I've been a published author in the erotic romance genre since 2004 but my boyfriend saw my potential to be a publisher. He advised me to do it years ago but I was afraid. I didn't feel the capability that he obviously saw in me. Finally, years later, I decided to take the plunge and my life was transformed. He was right. Being a publisher was for me. I've always had an entrepreneurial bent to my personality just not the confidence to see it rhough until I had his love and support. HH: What sorts of books will readers find there? SG: Ai Press is an erotic romance publisher akin to the other publishers out there. Readers will find spicy romances with explicit love scenes in all genres. M/M, Menages, paranormal, shapeshifters, pure erotica, historicals, multi-cultural. You name it. We pretty much got it. lol HH: Is Ai Press open to submissions? SG: Here are the guidelines: At this time we are currently acquiring M/M and M/F/M in the following subgenres: contemporary, sci-fi, steampunk, cowboy and Western, multi-cultural and paranormal (vampire/werewolf/psy). Length: 25,000 words and up. Explicit erotic scenes and a developing romance with either Happily Ever After or Happy for NOW ending. Aside from being erotic with a higher number of erotic scenes, stories must have strong characters and storyline. Manuscripts must be clean and need very little editing. Always have a proofreader or beta-reader look over your work before sending it. Heat level: No "sweet" romance. Stories must have a high and EXPLICIT level of erotic tension and content, though that same content need not be kinky. It can be "meat and potatoes", as long as the emotions are strong between the characters and the eroticism flows naturally from the developing romance. No sex thrown in just for show. Dark Sins line -- can be pure erotica -- no need for romance or HEA. Heavy bondage allowed. However, the same rules apply as to the romances as described below.

SG: Aside from what I outlined above, the stories should be well-written with clean tight character and plot development. Please, do plenty of revising before submitting because I am the only person who reads everything and I just get swamped if things aren't efficient and clean. HH: In what formats are your books available? SG: On the Ai Press website readers can directly purchase PDF, MOBI, EPUB and LRF for most titles. HH: Do you have any special events coming up? SG: At the moment, Ai Press as a publisher doesn't have any special events per se but we have a new ramped up newsletter and our authors are always doing book and prize giveaways. So there are goodies to be had from Ai Press. I regularly run Buy One Get One sales as well. One special event that will be coming up is the launching of the Tokyo Beat line -- M/M stories that are especially tailored to the yaoi genre. The first release of that line is the debut of a series by an author artist team called Bid Deal. The first volume is Lust for Vengeance and it's perfect for fans and lovers of the genre. I'm so thrilled about it. I don't have an exact release date yet but I hope readers will visit Ai Press and sign up for the newsletter so they'll be informed when the book is released. HH: How much of your day is devoted to your writing career? SG: Well, not as much as it used to be. Most of the time I'm editing other authors' work now as well as taking care of the other aspects of running a publishing company. But I do manage to steal time to write. Currently I'm working on an M/M novella entitled "Soy Sauce Face" for a collaboration with D.H. Starr. We hope to publish that in the Fall/Winter 2011. I'm very excited about it. HH: What's a day in the life of the publisher at Ai Press like? SG: Basically I alternate doing everyday regular things like chores and cooking with editing, writing, and anything else for Ai Press that needs to be done. It's all very quotidien and unexciting. But also very fulfilling. HH: What else would you like to tell readers about your company? SG: Just that I endeavor to put out high quality erotic romances at reasonable prices. No e-book is over 5.99 and no print book over 13.99. In these times of economic challenge, I fell it's only fair to keep prices as fair as possible. This balance allows Ai Press to keep running but let readers feel that they're getting a good value at the same time. HH: Thank you!
