Seeking to expand her horizons, she visits a popular cocktail lounge and runs into Kevin MacCloud, a man's man and a woman's Lothario. Sparks fly between them. She wants him desperately, and the feeling is mutual, but she needs a second lover. Fortunately, Vince, his roommate with movie-star looks, is at home and willing to please.

An Interview with Dee Dawning
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Dee, thank you so much for talking with us.

DD: You're very welcome. Thanks for having me.

HH: Your featured book is Naked Research, where the heroine, a popular erotic romance writer decides to find out just what she's missing by never having a ménage a trois. Where did you get the idea for this sizzling tale?

DD: Well, I've found through the years that many readers think erotic romance authors do such a great job of describing sex scenes, they surely be writing from experience. LOL, aren't we talented? We know that's not necessarily true, nevertheless, I thought, wouldn't it make an interesting story to write about such an author.

HH: What do you like best about Kevin and Vince and why will they appeal to romance readers?

DD: What's not to like? Kevin is a handsome and debonair literary agent, while Vince, is a gorgeous mixed race architect and part time model.

HH: What do you like best about Dede and why do you think readers will relate to her?

DD: Dede Wilson, whose real name is Rebecca Roth, is a top romance author, who feels she must experience a ménage in order to do her first ménage book justice. Planning on a simple one-night stand, Dede panics when realizes she likes Kevin and Vince too much.

HH: What do you think today's reader is looking for in erotic romance and how does this story meet that need?

DD: Well if they want sex, they ought to like Naked Research. LOL.

It seems like most readers want a hea. They also would like something a little off beat. That's what I strive for. I've also been known to throw a little humor in my stories.

HH: What, in your opinion, are the necessary elements of a good erotic romance?

DD: Characters readers can relate to and a plot that holds their interest.

HH: What else do you have in the works for lucky readers?

DD: I'm on the threshold of finishing, Duped!, my follow-up to my best selling book Dumped. It too will be out shortly. Other WIPs I have going are Cowgirls and The Photographer.

HH: Dee, why did you want to be a writer? Why do you still?

DD: I started writing on a lark and just kept on writing. A famous writer once said, and I'm paraphrasing, "After you've written a million words, you may be close to knowing what you're doing." I figure by now I'm halfway to my second million.

As for why I still write: I'm no spring chicken, but in all my years I never enjoyed anything more.

HH: If you weren't a writer, you'd be...?

DD: Braindead.

HH: What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

DD: Visiting God's country, Sedona. It's so beautiful, that everytime I see those amazing red rock cliffs it inspires me as if I've been touched by divinity.

HH: What is your biggest hope for 2011?

DD: The economy baby. I was a victim and now I'm coming back, but I still feel terrible for all the people that have lost their homes and or employment. What happened just wasn't fair.

HH: Totally agree with that. Here's hoping it's a better year. <g>Thank you!
