Reviews for Born Into Fire
"I thought that the storytelling was phenomenal. Scott and Waters really weaved this story together perfectly, not revealing too much at a time. This kept me glued to the pages, completely absorbed. And the frequent scorching hot sex scenes definitely helped too. I won't say too much but I will tell you this. Kenna is a glass blower. Enough said.
Born Into Fire is the novel to get if you want a modern romance with an elemental twist!" - Zee Firepages Reviews
"I loved the story, and the many different levels of passion and at one point, betrayal, that the characters had to face, both alone and together. There are several very interesting secrets, revealed only near the end of this book, that were very surprising to me. I really didn't see these coming. And the heat generated when Kenna and Erion are together is way beyond scorching; I'm surprised my fingers didn't blister from holding my reader." - Whipped Cream Reviews
"Both these authors weave an incredible story. This story takes place in the modern world with an old age twist. When dragons and elemental powers were commonplace the two elements get together and cause an internal combustion that was engrossing and thrilling." - Night Owl Reviews
"Just looking at the cover of Born into Fire and you can tell it is going to be one hot story! KyAnn Waters and Tarah Scott have done an incredible job at bringing the elements to life in this rousing fantasy romance." - Siren Reviews

An Interview with Tarah Scott
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Tarah, thank you for talking with us at TRS BLUE. Your featured book is Born Into Fire. What can you tell us about this sizzling tale? TS: Holly, thanks so much for having me here at TRS Blue. I always love visiting with you all. My latest release with Loose Id is Born Into Fire, a collaboration with the very talented KyAnn Waters. Born Into Fire is an erotic fantasy/paranormal. This book has strong fantasy elements, with a new brand of shapeshifter; Elements. Here's a teaser.
Aspiring artist Kenna Lang can't believe her luck in meeting the gorgeous Eric Grey. What she doesn't know is that their chance encounter was by his design.
Their affair turns hotter than even her glass furnaces. Together they are explosive. Drawn together in an erotic joining, they become more than human. He shows her they descend from elements of air, water, earth, and fire. She's fire, and he's air. And together, their power is unimaginable.
But the timeless struggle that wages between their elements -- and the world—may tear them apart.
HH: This was co-written with author KyAnn Waters. What can you tell us about this experience? TS: Collaborations are definitely a beast all their own. With each of us chasing our respective writing careers, KyAnn and I worked on this book for over a year. So there was no pressure in that arena. Heh heh. Our process involves rewriting and revising each draft, which means we're rewriting and revising one another's versions. That takes a great deal of trust. We had to take on faith that ego played no part in the changes, but that our goal was purely for the good of story. It's tough seeing one's work changed by someone else—if we change our own work, it's only a wip, after all, right?
HH: What do you like best about Kenna and why will readers relate to her? TS: It probably sounds funny, but one of the things I best like about Kenna is her curiosity. The changes she goes through in this story are epic, to say the least, and she's definitely caught off balance by the fact a latent ability to shift into fire has became an actuality. Imagine suddenly discovering that you could create fire in your hand at will? Or suddenly combust and turn into raging flames. Of course, Kenna has to come to fast conclusions, as she's being hunted by an Element who intends to enslave her, and she encounters dragon watchers who are chasing that same Element. Then, of course, there's the hero. She's got her hands full!
HH: What do you like best about Erion and why will readers love him? TS: I really like Erion. ROFL. I should, right? KyAnn's bent on Erion really intrigued me. He's very masculine, very male. That probably sounds simple—after all, romance readers expect their heroes to be masculine. But finding the sweet spot between masculine and barbaric isn't always that easy. Erion is a true man's man, gentle, sexy, and imperfect. If he wasn't imperfect, he wouldn't be a man, would he? I like heroes who are good, but are very capable of making mistakes. That makes them more real.
HH: How did you go about creating the world in which their story takes place? TS: This story takes place in our modern world. So it's a fantastical world within the mundane world. A universe that sprang from an earlier age and is weaving its way through our world right before our very eyes. We took some of the older Greek creation mythologies and added a little magic with a wizard who played Frankenstein. He combined the four elements with humans to create a super race that protected the world. But as is usually the case when one fiddles with nature, the universe fought back and demanded its essence be returned. The heroes he created were true heroes, so sacrificed themselves to save the world. In the process, they sentenced themselves to an eternity of nothingness. That'll wear on one's nerves!
HH: What else do you have in the works? TS: I'm just finishing up a very dark, very erotic Scottish Medieval. My heroine is ordered to murder a man in order to save her sister. She has her own plans however, plans that go awry when the wrong knight comes to her bed.
HH: What do you enjoy most about the writing itself? TS: Everything! I know that sounds nuts, and writing definitely has its moments when I wonder if I'm not out of my mind—which, there's no doubt I am. But the truth is, I would never work this hard if I didn't thrive on the process.
HH: What advice would you give to aspiring writers today? TS: Be sure writing is what you really want to do.
HH: What are you reading right now? TS: Linnea Sinclair's The Down Home Zombie Blues.
HH: Any fun plans for the summer? TS: Writing for the most part. I'm in the middle of several projects I want finished, as well as several novels that are under consideration with publishers. I do plan some fun time with my daughter. Summer is our movie and beach time. It's going to be a busy year!
HH: Thank you!
