About Mary Eason

Mary Eason grew up in a small Texas town famous for, well not much of anything really. Being the baby of the family and quite a bit younger than her brothers and sister, Mary had plenty of time to entertain herself. Making up stories seem to come natural to her.

As a pre-teen, Mary discovered romance novels and knew instinctively that was what she wanted to do with her over-active imagination.

She wrote her first novel as a teen, (it’s tucked away somewhere never to see the light of day), but never really pursued her writing career seriously until a few years later, when she wrote her first romantic comedy and was hooked.

Today, Mary still lives in Texas, and still writes about romance. In fact, she can’t think of anything else she’d rather do.

An Interview with Mary Eason
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Mary, thank you for talking with us at TRS! Your featured book Free Fall and it's a story full of emotion and danger. Where did the idea for this stunning romantic suspense come from?

ME: Thanks for the warm welcome, Holly. Well, for as long as I can remember, I've been in love with the romance behind a great spy story. When I first saw the movie Casablanca, I was hooked on the whole living on the edge of danger story.

HH: What do you admire about Raine and why will readers by drawn to her?

ME: Raine is as tough as nails and she can stand her ground against any threat to national security, but when it comes to her relationship with Roc, well, he is her biggest weakness. I believe readers will be touched by Raine's tough exterior, yet drawn to her human side as Raine struggles to have a normal life with Roc.

HH: What do you like best about Roc and why will readers love him?

ME: Roc is strong and sexy. The perfect alpha hero, Roc pulls you in and makes you fall in love with him. I believe readers will find themselves pulling for Roc and Raine to make their marriage work.

HH: What sort of research did you do for this series?

ME: I did tons of research online as well as read every bit of information I could get my hand on regarding spies, which for someone who loves a good spy story, it wasn't so much work as reading pleasure.

HH: What is the secret to writing a powerful, suspense-filled story such as this one?

ME: I think the secret to any great story is to have characters that the reader can both relate to and fall in love with. Add a life and death situation where the hero and heroine must risk their life to save their love, well, then you have a great romantic suspense.

HH: What else do you have in the works?

ME: I'm pleased to announce I've sold my first romantic suspense story to Samhain Publishing. Killer Moves will be released at a future date, so stay tuned. And readers can find all of my current and upcoming releases over on my website: www.maryeason.com.

HH: How do you personally view the future of ebooks?

ME: I believe ebooks will continue to grow more popular as the technology to access them becomes more readily available. But I do believe there will always be room in the publishing world for print books.

HH: How much of your day is devoted to your writing career?

ME: Usually, I devote between 2 and 5 hours a day on my writing career. As much as I'd love to say most of that is creating new romantic suspense stories, it isn't. Promoting takes up a huge chunk of my daily routine.

HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?

ME: I love to hear from readers via email or blogging. There's nothing better than hearing first hand that something I've written has touched someone personally.

HH: Any conference or appearance plans this fall?

ME: Nothing special, but I will be promoting my latest releases online and I am currently hosting a contest over on my website where I'm giving away an ebook copy of Free Fall.

HH: Thank you!
