Reviews for Beyond Magic
"Beyond Magic is charming, magical and fun; it kept me smiling all the way through to the most satisfying end! Can't wait to see where the series goes next and with whom..." - Marie Treanor, author of Blood on Silk
"Lizzie T. Leaf writes with gusto and humor as she brings forth characters so real, despite their relegation to myth, that you'd love to party with them. Even the mortal characters, particularly the intrepid retired schoolteachers, leave the reader wanting to have tea, or a martini, with them. I'm looking forward to the future Magical Love Series books." - Karen G., Amazon reader

An Interview with Lizzie T. Leaf
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Lizzie, thank you so much for talking with us. Your featured book is Beyond Magic. Where did you get the idea for this multi-realm adventure? LL: From a twisted mind...what else can I say! I like fun and started playing with "What if" one day and that is the path my thoughts wandered down...scary, huh?
HH: What can you tell us about Ian and why will readers love him? LL: Look at the cover...LOL When I did a reading at my book launch party that included a description of him, received questions on how did the cover artist come up with such a perfect man.
Readers will also appreciate his family interactions (even immortals have issues with their loved ones) and how at heart, he really is a caring person.
HH: What can you tell us about Emma and how will readers relate to her? LL: Emma is staring down the barrel of forty (her 39th birthday is approaching) and still has not connected with the man of her dreams. Her feelings of ‘never being quite good enough' have followed her from childhood into her adult life. By putting her energy into her new career and succeeding there, maybe she can put the inadequate demons to rest.
HH: What sort of research went into this work? LL: I spent a great deal of time exploring mythology and the gods of the various realms to get an idea on which ones appealed. The legends I read about and heard while touring Scotland made me want to write about some of those, especially the faeries. I've always loved the idea of magic and magical beings.
HH: What is the biggest thing you hope readers take away from this magical tale? LL: Laughter from the humorous parts. And in the more serious ones, especially Emma's disconnect with her family, the realization that you don't always have to like people because of a blood kinship. There are also people who come into your life that can feel more like ‘family' than the ones you are related to. The important thing is to have love in your life.
HH: What else do you have in the works for lucky readers? LL: I am currently working on the second book in the Magical Love Series. This one features Cori and her quest to find love...with help from the Cailleach, of course.
I'm also working on my first mainstream. This is a very different book from any of my previous ones.
HH: How do you balance a writer career with the rest of your life? LL: There are days when I don't think I do it very well, then others where my mind says "this is a job, do it." I'm working to incorporate a timer into the process and schedule the time in my day planner. Trying to get back into the corporate mindset of make the list and work the list.
HH: If you weren't a writer, you'd be a...? LL: Beach bum! That would be nice, but it wouldn't provide much in the way of income, so probably tour guide/director. That way I could feed my travel addiction and get paid to do it!
HH: What's your favorite guilty pleasure? LL: Ice cream! Give me a carton of peanut butter chunk or black cherry with chocolate pieces and I can make a major dent in it!
HH: 10) What is your biggest hope for 2011? LL: Every author's hope and dream…to have a bestseller!
HH: Thank you!
