About P.G. Forte PG Forte inhabits a world only slightly less strange than the ones she creates. Filled with serendipity, coincidence, love at first sight and dreams come true…it also bears an uncanny resembblance to Berkeley, California.
She wrote her first serialized story when she was still in her teens. The sexy, ongoing adventure tales were very popular at her oh-so-proper, all girls, Catholic High School, where they helped to liven up otherwise dull classes. Even if her teachers didn't always think so.

An Interview with P.G. Forte
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: PG, thank you so much for talking with us. Your featured book is Old Sins, Long Shadows and is the story of two men whose love is over. Or is it? Where did you get the idea for this beautiful tale?PG: Hi, Holly. Thank you. I always enjoy visiting with TRS. You know, when I started this series, I knew that Conrad and Damian had been lovers in the past and that Damian had helped Conrad raise the twins, but I didn't realize the extent of their feelings for one another. It wasn't until I was writing In the Dark (the first book in the series) that it became obvious how much in love with Conrad Damian still was. So, I guess, to answer your question, the idea for this particular story came out of Damian's character and the lengths to which he was willing to go for Conrad.
HH: What do you like about Conrad and why will readers relate to him? PG: Hmm. He's a 1200 year old master vampire, so relating to him might be tough! lol! What I love about Conrad is that he perseveres. No matter what life throws at him, he just puts his head down and keeps going. He tries his best, even when the odds are overwhelmingly stacked against him. And when he loves, he loves with all his heart. So, yeah, now that I think about it, maybe he isn't that hard to relate to after all.
He is, however, very possibly the most flawed character I've ever written. He's had a thousand years of being the absolute top of the food chain, which has left him considerably more arrogant and self-centered than he'd like to admit. Yet, for all of that, the reality is pretty much all his loved ones have him wrapped around their fingers.
HH: What do you think of Damian and why will readers love him? PG: Oh, I just think Damian's adorable...in a deadly, ruthless, manipulative sort of way. lol! The series really focuses on Conrad and the twins, Marc and Julie. But I suspect Damian thinks it's all about him. He started out as a courtier in the Spanish royal court, where he learned early how to finesse and charm and placate more powerful personages in order to get his own way.
Conrad has his number and knows exactly what he's doing...but he usually gives into him all the same. Damian is mostly fearless and a little too reckless at times, which tends to make Conrad insane with worry. His faith in Conrad, on the other hand, is absolutely boundless.
Damian is devoted to those he considers his family -- Conrad, Marc andd Julie—but he can be a little on the cold-blooded side when it comes to everyone else.
HH: As an author in a competitive market, how do you make a paranormal story stand out? PG: I think it's all about voice and story-telling and creating characters that you love and that (hopefully) readers will love as well. Luckily, paranormal romance readers are fairly voracious and passionate about the genre. I think they're on the look-out for good stories and compelling characters. Of course, having an awesome cover artist on your side doesn't hurt either!
HH: What else do you have in the works? PG: I'm working on a few projects right now, including the third book in the Children of Night series, tentatively titled Family Affair. This will focus in part on the twins' childhood, so I get to re-live the 70s, 80s and 90s. Good times! lol I'm also hoping to finish the follow-up to Edge of Heaven, which released last summer. That one has been in the works for quite some time as well. It will be my first m/m/m menage so, something different. I like different.
I also just completed my first steampunk story, This Winter Heart. There's an excerpt available on my website. That was so much fun to write and I already have another four books partially plotted out for that series. And then, as one of the Nine Naughty Novelists, I've been contributing to the hysterical regency-parody serial story, Love's Savage Whiplash, that we've written together and which is currently running on our blog at www.NaughtyNine.com We have a new chapter every Thursday.
HH: With the rising popularity of ebook readers and devices like the iPad, what changes do you see coming in the romance genre? PG: Well, I think print will still be around for quite some time, but it's great to see ebooks finally beginning to come into their own! I get the impression that shorter stories are doing especially well in digital format so I anticipate seeing a lot more short stories coming out as ebooks and possibly more short stories grouped together in anthologies coming out in print.
HH: As a romance reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer? PG: I think paranormal is my first love. I like series because if I fall in love with a set of characters or a particular world, I'll want more of it. I also like light, humorous contemporary romance as well. I don't write a lot of it, but I do like reading it!
HH: Tell us about the best fan mail (email) you've ever gotten. PG: I think every piece of fan mail is the best -- really! But just recently I had an email froom someone who'd read both Children of Night books and had fallen in love with Conrad all over again. That was awesome because I think she understands him even better than I do.
HH: What are your favorite hobbies/activities these days? PG: Well...that's a very good question. It was supposed to be travel at this point, and my husband's still not sure how that plan got derailed. But somehow or other we ended up with our son's dog and I immediately fell in love -- which confused us all because I've been a life-long cat person. So, anyway, my dog (yes, I said mine. I've totally co-opted him) takes up an unfairly large portion of my time and attention these days. Good thing he's so adorable.
HH: Any vacation or appearance plans this summer? PG: That kind of depends on the dog. lol! Actually, we do have some tentative plans for travel, at least within California, this summer and there are a couple of writing conferences I haven't completely ruled out, but nothing that's locked in yet.
HH: Thank you!
