Carly has become obsessed with her Sim lover and goes to her best friend to find out who the contributors are. When she learns that the major contributor was Brenda’s brother, Devlin Bear, who was killed in an explosion while working on a top secret government project, she doesn’t understand why she can’t get him out of her mind or dreams. She goes so far as to order a cyborg lover with Devlin’s likeness and the sim program that she can’t get enough of. But if Devlin died in that explosion, why does her new companion think he is the real Devlin Bear? And why is the military arresting her and questioning her about rebel activities that she knows nothing about? Carly fell in love with a man who is supposedly dead and a cyborg believes he is the real man who it was made to mimic. The government watches everything that everyone does, so how can Carly hide what is really going on with Devlin as he gets his memories back? Devlin found a way to improve mankind while working on his project for the government when someone tampered with the gate and caused the accident. Now he finds himself trapped in the body of a cyborg and has to find a way to unravel what happened to him between the time of his “death” and when he became the companion Carly fell in love with. Overall, this story was very entertaining, there was no downtime in the story to make a reader lose interest. However, there were a few things that I think the author kind of glossed over when it could have been given a little more detail to make the story really stand out.
