Kat is a lawyer taking a much-needed vacation. While she's engrossed in a law tome -- her idea of vacation reading -- Julian stops by and makes his interest clear. He's tall, dark, and dominant, and she can't resist what he offers. After a night together, she can't get him out of her head, and he has the same affliction. When he shows up at her law firm as a high-end client, will those sparks fly again? The premise of this novel drew me right in. I like the tried-and-true premises that rely on character development to make them stand out. That didn't really happen for me with Legally Binding. I couldn't relate to Kat. Every time she opened her mouth, something nasty came out. She put Julian in his place rather quickly. While he was a bit cocky, he wasn't rude. As he continued to pursue her, she let loose with more shrewish behavior. By the end of the novel, her sharp edges had definitely softened. I understand the journey she took and the fact that the things she said came from an unhappy place deep inside, but it was too late for me. I just didn't like her. The erotic scenes were plentiful, and the author did a nice job attempting to build sexual tension so that their quick detour to the bedroom was believable. The sex scenes that were included were well written. However, their first time together was glossed over. I felt cheated reading about the actual BDSM elements in summarized retrospect. Why weren't the readers allowed to be there? Readers looking for BDSM-lite or who don't practice BDSM will like Legally Binding. Readers who want something more realistic and graphic won't find it fulfilling. Overall, it was entertaining.
