Jennifer White's life is beginning to settle down after several very difficult years. She has a nice apartment, a good job and most importantly, a happy four year old daughter. Now the company she works for is reorganizing. If Jennifer wants to keep her job, she must relocate to Dallas. Kane Sterling, the man she holds responsible for her unwanted move, also works from the Dallas office. As she gets to know him, Jennifer is intrigued and eventually opens her heart to him. But Kane isn't exactly who he pretends to be and his interest in Jennifer isn't only personal. Someone is stealing from Maxim Motors and all evidence points to Jennifer. Kane had her transferred to keep an eye on her. When Jennifer learns of his betrayal, she's devastated. Her world is shattered and she sees no hope of putting it back together.

I enjoyed the way this story played out. The build up is slow and the reader is privy to both sides of the relationship. Without that knowledge, Kane would have come off as a despicable human being. Their romance is sweet yet sexy at the same time. Jennifer's daughter is a delightful character and a nice addition to the plot. The secret investigation brings some mystery and intrigue to the story as does the knowledge that Jennifer will eventually find out about Kane's subterfuge. The very emotional ending rounds out a thoroughly enjoyable and sensual contemporary romance. I highly recommend this book as well as Ms. Orr's other stories. She pens some very touching tales and I'm never disappointed.
