Claire Waters and Burke Harlow were high school sweethearts that couldn’t get enough of each other until one horrible event changed Claire’s life forever. Now though with her mother sick, Claire has moved back to the town she grew up in, and not only does she have to face Burke but she also has a secret to hide, one that could blow up in her face if her ex discovered it.

This was a really enjoyable story from the start that got better the more I read. The plot was well-written and easy to follow, considering how emotional it was for the heroine and the things that had happened to Claire to make her distance herself from the man she loved. The dialogue was a combination of fun and serious, which I immensely enjoyed because it showed that Claire could still enjoy her life while dealing with things from her past. Though there were no sex scenes, the love Claire and Burke had for each other was still there. What I liked so much about Claire was her strength and how she pushed forward with her life when everything wasn’t going so well. While with Burke, I liked that when Claire came back into his life he wouldn’t allow her to get away from him.

Overall, this was an excellent read by an author whose work I’ve never read but will hope to get to read more of in the future.
